While the recent sorting based solvers do give GPUs an order of magnitude speed advantage — -contrary to your desires for CPU minin — -the 90sec proof attempt you mention is a red herring, since Cuckoo Cycle can be trivially scaled down to smaller sizes and faster solve times.
